Salutes from Greece.
Watching the issue for the 3 last months, here my remarks:

1. To my view, it certainly doesn't work due to Yahoo*.
I still use version 0.9.3!
This is so cos the last 2-3 weeks I manage to download a few mails from some relay services (e.g. Yahoo info or "delivery failed" and so on).
I couldn't do so with any other type of mail, if this helps.

2. I tried all versions up to 0.9.7.3. Nada...
I also tried them under winxp32, winxp64 and vista32. The same.
I always use mozilla mail.

3. However, when I temporarily empty my web Inbox, ypops working, checking and telling me "no new mail on server"...

When behind a wall I can't use freepops (I'm not an ...artist, I don't know how to set the firewall switch -b (install service -b 0.0.0.0...). Suggestions welcomed!
When not behind walls I perfectly download all my Yahoo.com mail.
This is the only way for me until now.

4. I wonder, how does freepops work perfect while ypops not ?
It is certainly due to Yahoo* BUT in combination with ypops code, libraries or things I don't know...

5. Any heavy programmer around?

Hello All... I have found the following to work with version YP 0.9.5.9 using SeaMonkey 1.1.16, I have not tried this with any other versions, maybe someone can try and advise if this works with the latest versions:

1) Account Settings - insure Email Address reads your login [email protected]
2) Server Settings: a) Server Name is localhost Port is 2000 User Name is [email protected]
b) Port is 2000
c) User Name is [email protected]
d) Security Settings connection is set to: Never

I hope this works for others. I Am getting duplicate downloads as the first pass. I do not thinks it will happen again. The way I happened upon this was, I have two accounts for which there is no real problem with downloading and never thought to compare settings. After checking them I found the differences and made changes to one account and voila, it worked.

Again, I Am using SeaMonkey browser 1.1.16 and YPops version 0.9.5.9 and have not tried it with an updated version of YPops as yet.

Thank you again and good luck.. Let me know if this switch works for you.

Actually, working with this software for downloading of emails in outlook is not possible.
My machine is VIOA VGN-SZ79GN, with Windows XP, proffesional SP3, Microsoft outlook 2007.

As you can see from the plethora of posts, it is not your specific problem. I too received a small amount of empty data header file and I could have let it run FOREVER as it was not really running but HUNG UP.

The thing that bothers me most about this is that there is no software source and this is SUPPOSED to be an Open Source project. The only source code available is ancient and very much behind all of the new changes.

Why would you need YPops if you are using a browser?

Did I miss something?

Hi, I am working wiht Thunderbird 2, YPOPs and of course - Yahoo.com, and Kaspersky 2009 as Firewall

Now a small problem has appeared:

I have downloaded around 30 Emails from the inbox (unread/all)

when I want to download another one or more, it starts with the first position of the list of the 30s again...

-----------------------------
First Download:
Position/Title

1 Hi Peter
2 Hallo Ellen
3 Howdy Torsten
....
30 Hi Jens
----------------------------

Second Download

Should come
31 Hi Heiner

but this is the result:

1 Hi Peter.....
-----------------------

Even by putting them into other folders, it is exact downloading the number of the emails in the inbox (for example Position 27,28,29,30 = 4 Emails!!), but starting over and over again with the position of the memorized list (Position 1,2,3,4 = 4 Emails) ....why?

Even when I delete the list in ....Application Data/YPOPs/ypops.log, it starts again and again with the same result.
The logfiles shows, that it could download also the missing position 31 till 40, but every try for downloading or moving them into Thunderbird 2 does not work????????????

Can anybody help here?

Greetings

He may have misspoken. Seamonkey is a free software that includes a browser and Seamonkey Mail client. My father also uses the same term to refer to Seamonkey mail.

I am using YPOPS 0.9.7.3 with Outlook Express 6 to try and access yahoo mail.
Sending mail does not work and retrieving mail only works if there is no attachment..
Is this a known problem and is there to be any fixes for it ?

FYI YPOPS 0.9.5.8 works with sending mail (but still cannot retrieve mail with attachments)

can download only 1 e-mail.

I run 0.9.7.3 on an XP pro with thunderbird 2.0.0.9. After I entered the password, Ypops proceeded to get my e-mail. After getting the first e-mail, Ypops stalled. Then I got an error message saying connection timeout. This problem is reproducible.

I checked the log and found it actually contained the 2nd e-mail, which never showed up in the inbox.

It doesn't work for me. CPU goes up to 100%, locks up computer. Always load at start up even if I ve that function unchecked. Doesn't down load the mail. So, all the same problems as before.

Same duplicates problem i n 9.7.3 that I had in 9.7.1 and 9.7.15. Somehow Ypops is finding a former message and keeps downloading it even though every folde on Yahoo is empty/deleted - I manually checked.

Amazing programming guys - sure hope you can fix this. I tried changing various settings but to no avail.

I'm stunned. Not by the fact that this version doesn't work. It's toast.

It is that I cannot believe how many different scenarios people are getting for results.

I first found the ypops interface server program version 0.3.5 in August of 2002 according to my file dates, and stored it as a possible alternative solution some day. I didn't start trying to use it until version 0.9.5.1 in October of 2007, and it worked as did 0.9.5.4, for a while. Now Yahoo has evidently modified their protocol and a simple examination of that has been complicated by the recent rewrite.

Now there's all of this new "simplification" coding, with library stripping etc. from what I can see, a major rewrite.

Fine, not a problem except for one thing. This is an Open Source product. That means the code is available unless it has become a forked development project.

I cannot see that that has happened. What I see is proprietary behaviour in an Open Source project. This is not good and this result is the reason why.

Myself and others who can code a fix, are now estoppel from any progress without a multiversion rework.

Hello! i am new to Ypops, but I am very interested in receiving my emails in my outlook express client. Your program seems to be great.
I am however facing two (beginners ?) problems :
- don't find where to download 0.9.7.3 version, so I downloaded 0.9.7.1
- installation doesn't work runtime error IPersistFile::Save failed; code 0x80070005 access denied

Antivirus incompatibility ? I am using Kaspersky 2009

Thank you for your answer

for those of you having problems with sending email using ypops. well i have an easy solution for you. i tried working with this for about 15 min and figured it out when it wouldnt find the mail server. JUST USE YOUR ISP'S DEFAULT SMTP SERVER FOR EXAPMPLE MINE IS smtp-server.nc.rr.com AND THEN IN YPOPS SETTINGS I DISABLED SMTP. TO EASY!!!
