I spent about a WEEK scouring the net for solutions for the problems I was having with version 971 and 973. I thought it was something I was doing wrong with the settings either in Ypops or Outlook Express. I kicked myself for not coming to this site sooner to read the forums. Now I see that it is the program itself that is screwing up so badly. I’m having multiple problems with the program. No need for me to try to figure them out any further, as I now know that a serious bugfix is needed. The problems I’ve been having (as MANY of you have already listed) are the following:

1. Ypops will download messages that SHOULD have been deleted form the server. Even with all settings being correct, when I d/l messages, I’ll log back on to d/l more, and they’ll be the same messages that I d/lded earlier.

2. Ypops will not d/l “flagged” messages. Regardless of messages being flagged for d/l on Yahoo’s side, AND the “flagged” circle being filled in for which types of messages to be d/lded, Ypops does NOT d/l the flagged messages.

3. Regardless of the maximum limit of d/ld messages you set Ypops to d/l at a time, it still attempts to d/l ALL of the messages in the Yahoo account.

I haven't seen YPOPS 9.7.3 crashing lately but it is still not downloading current email messages to my Outlook 2003 client (Vista Home Premium OS). I had been seeing occurrences where I was downloading emails that had been deleted from the server several days earlier so I ensured that the server was cleaned up as much as possible while still retaining a few older messages so I could gauge how far back it was going. After clearing the advanced log file and rebooting, YPOPS still downloaded the oldest 2 messages of 12 that were on the server. Trying to resynchronize Yahoo, no additional messages were downloaded.

I then flagged the 10 newer messages as unread and tried to download again. The 10 oldest messages were downloaded, including the 2 previously downloaded but not the 2 newest messages. The 2 newest messages are still shown as unread on the server but will not download.

Re: YPOPs!/Windows 0.9.7.3 not working correctly

Postby vreiner on March 23rd, 2009, 10:53 am

Hiya,

I'm using YPOPs 9.7.3 on Windows XP. I've been using YPOPs for several years (thanks so much!) and recently upgraded because YPOPs stopped working due to Yahoo's changes.

My problem is that YPOPs is not downloading emails past a certain date (March 9), and it doesn't mark the emails that it HAS downloaded as "read", so it downloads them all again each time. Then it crashes. I've tried removing emails from my Yahoo mailbox manually (via the website) to see if it was a particular email causing the trouble, that didn't help.

Any thoughts on what's wrong?

I posted my verbose log results but someone kindly informed me that there is too much personal information in the log so I deleted it as it was too long to edit.

Mohan, YPOPs! 0.9.7.3 does not, as far as I know require any application to open it. I am somewhat confused by "dint run with firefox as well as ie8." YPOPs is meant to be started and then used with an e-mail client application such as Thunderbird. It is not designed for use with Fx or IE.

What application was it asking for? This could also be a Vista issue and with that I cannot help because I am using WinXP Pro SP3.

YPOPS 0.9.7.3 does not work properly for me (using win XP 2002 SP3 with Firefox). It always downloads the same messages that are 7 days old and it does not download the new ones.
Thanks for your help.

I installed into my computer and when trying to install into my XP machine, got this error message:

Error 0xc0150002, click OK to shut down. It will not install the rest of the way.

Any clues as to what is causing this error?

Chris, thanks. The user Colin suggested I post the log info, but neither he nor anyone else has responded to my troubleshooting request. Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Thanks!

I wish I could help. At this point the only one who can help is Anuj Seth, one of the developers. Anuj Seth has not been around since Mon Mar 16, 2009 10:35 pm. I suspect that his work has placed YPOPs! on the backburner. The YPOPs project is a spare time thing and naturally his job is going to have to take precedence because that is were the bacon (money) comes from. After all he has a family to support.

Well there are a couple of options. One, have you checked to see if your account has POP Access? Others have reported that switching to Yahoo! Asia gave them POP Access. That trick also worked for me for my one yahoo.com account. My other accounts Yahoo! Philippines already had POP Access. All are free accounts. See my post YPOPs! • View topic - HowTo change Preferred Content in Yahoo! Mail and Setup POP

Two, another user has reported success with version 0.9.5.14 for downloading only. See this post here

Hopefully one of those two options will work for you. :)

I used earlier versions of Ypops until it quit working about 2 weeks ago. I upgraded to the 0.9.7.3 version to see if I could get it to work again, first uninstalling the previous version and then doing a clean install. I have been playing with the settings to get it to work for the past couple of weeks, to no avail. Here is a list of my operating info and the log created by Ypops. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer not to have to pay Yahoo annually for POP3 access, but I may have no choice if this won't work again. Thanks for your help.
