YPOPs!/Windows 0.9.6 Alpha 1

I was using YPOPs! 0.9.5.3 since early 2008, Outlook 2007, and Yahoo! Classic without a glitch. It stopped working properly yesterday and just updated to YPOPs!/Windows 0.9.6 Alpha 1 this morning. Outlook 2007 still could not receive or send messages. I went to the Yahoo! website and swiched it from "Classic" to "What's new?" version. I was able to receive messages but not send them. It read "Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: 554 Mailbox unavailable." I went back to Yahoo! and switch from the "new" vesion back to "Classic". . . . Outlook 2007 is working like a charm!

Can we get frontpage daily status updates ? Is this mess going to get resolved or not? WIll ypops, or anyone else for that matter, get a working https pop checker/smtp sender done anytime soon ?

I've had a yahoo mail address for many years, is it time to move over to gmail ?

Well, I spoke too soon. Outlook 2007 can download but not send mail. I've switched from "classic" to "new version" and back to "classic". Closed both applications and even restarted the computer. Email bounces back saying "554 Cannot send message.".

I installed YPOPS 0.9.6 Alpha 1 on a Windows XP machine using OUTLOOK 2003. I get an error when I attempted to retrieve my e-mail as follows:

I have also been having trouble retrieving mail from yahoo had it working with the new mail in yahoo, using 0.9.6 can send fine, can not receive
the only way i can get mail to come in outlook 2007 is check it at yahoo.com then once its marked a read or not being new it will shoot into yahoo fine, it just has trouble with new mail sending to from yahoo to outlook read mail works, please let me know if anyone else has same issue. Hope it gets fixed soon

with version 0.9.5.1 although it gets authorized by incredimail no emails are arriving and no emails can be sent!
when trying version 0.9.6.1 alpha1 and tried to send messages i get the error message "inbox not found also cant receive messages at all!

bottom line:cant receive or send messages at all with either version!HELP ME PLEASE!

Hi,

Testing v 0.9.6 alpha under Win 2000 SP4 in VirtualBox (host system : debian sid)
After install, I cannot start YPOPs, I have an error-box :
"The dynamic link library MSVCR71.dll could not be found in the specified path <list of pathes>"

I don't know if YPOPS is not compatible w2k, or if this is a local error.

Hi sebas,

Check to see if you have msvcr71.dll on your system, if not just extract "msvcr71.dll" from the zip attached. Put in your system32 folder or in your YPOPs! folder.

Tx, yPops is starting if I put the msvcr71.dll in yPops' folder (but it doesn't download anythg, probably due to the last changes in yahoo's interface)

The strange thing is that it was not needed with the the former version (0.9.53)

I tried this too :
- I uninstalled yPops and cleaned everything (folder, registry)
- I installed the 0.9.51 version (no msvcr71.dll needed)
- I installed 0.9.6 on top of the 0.9.51 (without uninstalling 0.9.51 and in the same folder), then the error-box appears again, I have to copy msvcr71.dll manually on the yPops' folder. Then yPops is starting, but not downloading.

Waiting now for a new version where DL is working again

Using Ypops/Windows 0.9.6 Alpha 1 (that has sure been out a long time now, without any update to Beta, nor Alpha 2, nor even Alpha 1.01 ). Windows XPSP3, with Outlook 2003.

For years Ypops has worked for me well, no problems.

Some months ago, I was unable to receive Yahoo e-mail through Outlook-Ypops any more. My settings had not changed, but I could not receive any mail. I would not get any error message--Outlook would just report no new messages, yet if I looked at Yahoo web mail, I would see new messages. I was using Ypops 0.9.5 at the time.

So, I installed this Alpha, hoping that would solve the problem. It didn't. Exact same problem.

Then I saw the suggestion here to switch to the New Yahoo Webmail, instead of Classic. I did so, and voila, it worked, I could now receive Yahoo mail through Ypops-Outlook again.

Today, however it does not work again. When I try to receive Yahoo messages via Ypops, I get the following error message:

YPOPS! Yahoo Error
Yahoo API reported the following error:
mod_yahoo_auth:Expired credentials

(Note -this error message box was apparently generated by Ypops itself.)

I click Close on the box, then receive an Outlook box telling me server 127.0.0.1 (as it's always been set up), and listing my user name and password. I click OK, then it starts trying to receive again, and I get the Ypops API error again as above. Next time I actually retype my password in the box, when that box comes up, same error.

Yet if I go to Yahoo on the web, there is no problem signing in with my user name and password. (But that "New Yahoo Mail" is a pain--so slow!)

What is going on? What is that Ypops API error all about? How can I fix this?

And--when will the beta come out? Or Ypopls 0.9.6 Alpha 1.01?

I'll post just the log from my most recent attempt tonight. (I don't think you would want the whole log, 38+kb, goes back to 2005!) There is also an error page created, called yahooerror.html. Should I upload that also? (Just looked at it though, including view source. Nothing there, other than the Ypops error message I already received.) (And tried to upload, and was told "extension .html not allowed".)

Also, I see an .html file in my Ypops folder from the same session, entitled ListMessages_Inbox.html. I open that, and see a similar error message, although not worded exactly the same:

I just upgraded to 0.9.6 alpha, and when it connects and attempts to download the list, I guess it gets no list as it quits very fast.

I usually only use YPOPs to download to my outlook the Bulk folder's contents as I get a lot of false positives, and Yahoo doesn't offer a search tool for the spam/bulk mail folder.

Any tips/suggestions?

As many others, I have problems since Yahoo changed their settings. I use the new Aplha version and could at least get it back to work in so far that I can receive and send emails, after I changed my Yahoo interface from Classic to the new one. But I cannot send attachments any longer from within Outlook 2003, or at least they never arrive in a readable format.
I tried the advice to change the settings in Outlook 2003 for the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) to: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com

But all I get is a request to type my password again and again. Nothing goes beyond that message.

Has anybody a solution for the problem to send attachments?
