YPOPs! 0.9.6 is in the works...

Hello all, first post here I have been using ypops for years and start to have the same issues as everyone else. So I went looking for a newer release and found the new Alpha version. I am not a programmer and don't have any technical info but I could not get the Alpha release to work at all would not connect to yahoos servers and had configuration problems. I could not figure out where the log was saved to post the log. I was hoping someone would have an update on a release date or could help me get the 9.6 Alpha working, I have several yahoo accounts for business and need to be able to access them all with one program.

Current version of ypops is working sparaticly except for one of my accounts. (server Info- http://us.mc458.mail.yahoo.com/mc/welcome? ) This account pulls up error window with yahoo login page inside.

I am using following machine and software.
Compaq S4100NX 2.5ghz
720MB RAM
120GB hard drive
Windows XP
Thunderbird version 2.0.0.14
Ypops 9.5.1
Mozilla Firefox

If I were you I'd stick to 0.9.5.1 and change your interface to all-new-classic-mail or vice versa & see if that helps..this Alpaha release is experimental, not test code

I use YPOPs a lot, the program is fantastic. But since a couple of days (say: May 31th) sending mail is not possible anymore. The errormessage I get in Thunderbird is: `Mailbox unavailable’. That’s right: Yahoo changed a couple of things, see `http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/classic/basics/whatsnew-01.html’. They changed the name of the folder `compose’ in `drafts’!!!

Furthermore: when I work in the `classic’ mode, YPOPs always says there are no messages in my `inbox’ and my `sent’ folder… When I choose for the `all-new’ interface, YPOPs reads all messages in my `inbox’ and the `sent’ folder. I don't know what's the cause of this...

PLEASE HELP!!! I have been using ypops and love it but as of sometime last week, I realized that my ypops that I use with Mozilla Thunderbird quit downloading my messages off of my yahoo! mail account. I did not change any of the settings or anything, it just quit working! So I tried to install ypops with outlook express and ypops told me that my username/password was invalid and I haven't changed my password. So I tried changing my password and that didn't help either. I even tried to download the webmail extension to get things back working but nothing will work!! what is going on?? I need my ypops back working with my mozilla thunderbird b/c I absolutely love it and have to have it!! Please help me. I have spent the last three days surfing the web looking for answers and suggestions and have gotten no where! Please help!! Thanks for any help I can get!!

You're not alone. I'm having the same problem using Thunderbird and Vista. I am using the new Yahoo email interface, which sucks rocks, IMHO, and am unable to either send or receive email. This problem began sometime early yesterday, June 5, for me: at least that's when I noticed it. I hate the thought of having to use Yahoo's interface not only because it is horrible, but also because I don't like the idea of leaving my email on their servers. I hope this gets fixed soon, though I realize that it's entirely Yahoo's fault as they keep changing things so that people are forced to use their interface and servers. I'm thinking seriously about changing email providers so as to avoid this issue in the future.

I switched from Classic View to NEW VIEW to no avail.

I still cannot download messages to OUTLOOK (or) send them using OUTLOOK.

I am eagerly awaiting the New Version of YPOPs which can hopefully allow me go to back to using YAHOO mail through OUTLOOK.

I SWITCHED back to YAHOO MAIL (Classic Version) [As I did not care for the new Format]

Lo, behold, YAHOOPOPS has NOW STARTED WORKING...(I am able to send and receive E-mail messages through OUTLOOK 2003)

When I switched from CLASSIC to NEW YAHOO, I went from "mc" to "mg" and now I am back to "mc"...

Just wanted to share this with the community.

Just wanted to say that this worked for me in Thunderbird also. Switched from Classic (which wasn't working), to New (still didn't work), and then back to Classic (which worked again without changing any TB or YPOPs settings.

One quick note that I haven't seen explicitly mentioned on this site. For me it wasn't obvious when it stopped working because TB/Ypops would connect, and then I'd get the message that there were no new messages on the server. So it took me a good 10 days are so before I became suspicious enough to go directly to Yahoo to check mail.

I'm ypops with Thunderbird and everything was working fine up until a week ago. Now all I get is a message saying there are now new messages on the server. When I know there is. Is it just me, or is this happening to anyone else. I'm running the lastest version of Thunderbird on Windows XP home edition.

I resolve my problem reading the topic "I have found another workaround for the MC server problem", it give me a clue mentioned by aviaggio1 about problem with the UTF-8.


I'm runnig vista 64 IE7/outlook 2007 and YPop .9.6.1. At the begining I tried everything on my IE and Outlook without success, then I install Firefox and set it as my default browser and I went to About:config to disable UTF-8. Now everything is working.

Classic or new interface, same issue, "Mailbox unavailable" prevents sending but can check & receive mail fine.

I do not have the option showing that I can select the "Change View Options" Is it also hidden somewhere? I did have it at one time. I am on a "mc" server at this time.
