I got it working... I'm using Outlook Express, and YPops v.0.9.5.1

{EDIT: Eh, never mind... as soon as I rebooted, it stopped working. Weird, since I've not logged into the Yahoo webmail interface for over a month (I don't get a lot of email), and I clear my cache and cookies immediately after I'm done surfing.}

You cannot post an image at the EMail Body on the previous versions of YPops when using the Built-in SMTP server for sending.
I use Thunderbird for my email client. Thank you.

This version (0.9.6 Beta) and the official release before it still do not work well with Outlook 2007.

2 things seem not to work.

1 - Cannot send attachments (any type) out in any e-mails.
2 - Cannot send (in any way) e-mails with embedded objects / pictures, etc...

An error message inside an e-mail is delivered in Outlook in the Inbox after attempting to send:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: FW: MA Pre-Weekend Mtg Package for EM377
Sent: 4/25/2008 11:37 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

'e-mail address' on 4/25/2008 11:37 PM
554 Cannot send message.

and the log states the following:

Is there any way that the Calendar events reception can be fixed as well?

When I receive a calendar event in an e-mail from another computer that has MS Outlook, the calendar event shows up with the following text in the e-mail, not as an attachment. Here's a sample:

Re: YPOPs! 0.9.6 is in the works...

Postby Mitchell on May 3rd, 2008, 4:33 am

Hi, Good Morning!

I'm using the 0.9.6 Alpha 1. I'd been plagued with problems for about a month when I switched to this version. It seemed to fix most of the errors, I too had on sending mail. And after reviewing this thread, I see that I was having many of the same problems over last few weeks. When trying to send emails with attachments or embedded objects, no go. So some messages would go through and others no.

Alpha seemed to fix most of the issues but for about a day now, absolutely have not been to send or receive. The funny thing is that no matter what issues one has with yahoo changing things on us and then YPops! having issues, POPPeeper keeps on working. That's why I know I have pending mail because PP tells me. But when I open my Outlook 2003, nothing downloads. I had to send an urgent email last night via POPPeeper and I have a response there this morning with attachments that I can't get at because YPops! can't dl the msg.

The errors I get are various, it seems. I get box popup with an "Invalid ID" error and to type in my username without the @Yahoo.com. Or I get various errors in the O2003 details re transmission. Currently I'm getting an "unknown error", #0x80040201 (though there have been numerous others that aren't showing up right at this moment so can't report them right now).

Any help appreciated. I stumble along when these things happen but when the mail stops completely, I'm at a standstill.

Thanks. :)

Oh, p.s., forgot to mention that this morning changed to the new interface though I've been using the classic all these years but that didn't fix things. It seems that some issues are fixed with using the new interface over the old, but still not able to send/receive mail with YPops! via Outlook 2003. POPPeeper continues to work, thank goodness, but nothing with YP and Outlook. Still asks me first to enter username without @yahoo.com (which doesn't fix problem even when you change this).

Thanks much! :)

Hi, still no response at all. Does anyone get responses in this forum? It has been my experience, though granted rather limited as I haven't posted much since I started using YP!, that the forum is one way.

At any rate, I am still not able to send/receive mail in my Outlook 2003. Nothing has changed. I didn't do anything when it stopped working. Unlike other times, dl the latest YP! didn't fix the problem.

Would appreciate any help to fix this. I will have to start looking for alternatives to YP! otherwise as I cannot go on without receiving mail. My POPPeeper continues to work just fine. We had a recent upgrade and it still continues to read Yahoo mail. So there is a way around any problems yahoo is putting up.

Thanks!

Great, it's working again!

I downloaded and installed YPops! 0.9.6, and permanently 'downgraded' to Yahoo Classic, and now I can send and receive just fine.

FYI, to downgrade permanently to Yahoo Classic, log into Yahoo Mail as you would normally, then follow this link:
http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/optout?script=no

{ EDIT: Aarrgghhh! Stopped working again! }

OK, so far the only workaround I've and a few others have found is this:

1.) Set your yahoo mail account to the new interface. This should allow you to receive mail.

2.) When sending mail you will get an error the first two times you attempt to send, but the third time it will go through.

3.) Make sure any anti-virus program you have running do NOT scan outgoing email, or you'll never get outgoing mail to work.

As far as I have been able to tell there are no settings in either Windows, Internet Options, the email client of your choice (Outlook, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird), or YPOPs! that has any bearing at all on this problem. Examining my log files revealed it may be an issue with YPOPs! using UTF-8, but changing this setting in your email client or Internet Options has no effect. I suspect the use of UTF-8 is a built-in function of YPOPs! with no option to disable it, but this is just a guess.

Hopefully this is enough information for the authors to figure out what's going wrong and release a fix. Until then, follow the above steps as a temporary workaround. It has worked for me and others, but I make no guarantee it will work for everyone.

Just thought I'd chime in and say this quick fix is working for me. Emails are going out on the first try too. This makes me very happy, since I've been without Outlook 2003 for almost a month now! A big thanks to all the members here who continue to play a big part in keeping YPOPS a viable program.

It has worked for me and others, but I make no guarantee it will work for everyone.

aviaggio's advice is spot on for the current versions (Production & Alpha) of YPops

YPOPs itself works fine, but:

With Vista and Vista SP1 - on startup, get message that YPOPs did not start properly. Simply re-starting YPOPs manually solves this problem.

I use YPOPs with Windows Mail for a GMail account and 3 Yahoo accounts - 1 old interface, 2 new interface. Works fine with all of them. I can't send e-mail properly from one Yahoo account where the "reply to" address (bigfoot) is different from the Yahoo address, but I probably just don't have settings right.

My wife has real trouble sending attachments using Outlook. I don't have her log, etc., but thought I'd mention it, since I haven't seen this problem mentioned.

PS - Kudos to the YPOPs team for a great solution that let me keep using my Yahoo address. Good work!
