http://us.mg2.mail.yahoo.com/I have had no problems receiving email, but I also got the error message "554 mailbox unrecognized" when trying to send. However, if I check the box "save email in yahoo's sent items folder", I am able to send email from my yahoo account via outlook 2002 and outlook express 6.
Update: After restarting my system, I was no longer able to send through yahoo (554 mailbox unrecognized). However, I toggled the option to "save email in yahoo's sent folder" (toggle off > close ypops > open ypops > toggle on). Now, sending is working again. Then I toggled the option back off, and send is still working. I assume I'll probably have to do this every time I restart my system. Does anyone else get the same strange behavior?
I tried your trick and was able to get things to work using the classic interface, but I had to log in to Yahoo Mail in my browser first. I haven't tried using the updated Classic interface yet, or rebooted. I'll update when I have more to report.
EDIT#1: ok, I found that the "save email in yahoo's sent folder" checkbox doesn't seem to have any effect for me using the new interface. What works for me is logging into and out of Yahoo Mail in my browser after YPOPs is started (either on a full system startup or by simply shutting it down and starting it again), and then it works perfectly until YPOPs is restarted.
Dunno why this is, perhaps it's a cookie thing of some sort. Also, I do not have the "Keep me signed in" box checked on the Yahoo logout page, so when I log out, I really log out. Gonna try the new classic interface, see what happens.
EDIT#2: this does NOT work with the classic interface. If anything, the classic interface just f*cks it all up. If I log in with the new interface already active, then I can switch to classic and everything works fine until you either restart YPOPs or log into Yahoo thru the browser. Either will cause things not to function. Even if you switch to the new interface while logged in it won't work. You need to switch to the new interface, log out completely, log back in to the new interface, and then shutdown and restart YPOPs to get it working again.
Bottom line, stay away from the classic interface completely.
It's not a perfect solution, having to log into Yahoo in my browser every time my computer starts up, but it's better than not being able to send mail at all.
Hopefully this little workaround will lead to a more permanent solution in the next version of YPOPs.
EDIT#2.5: I've tested this a number of different ways now, and I've noticed that sometimes even after you log in and out thru the browser, the first email you try and send might fail. I simply wait a moment, click send again, and it goes thru. I will have to do a long-term test to see if that first browser login is good for the entire day, or if you need to periodically login every few hours.
