I also got a bunch of similar emails with no headers last Monday. About a third of the way down the body is 'Sorry for the inconvenience. You've stumbled upon a temporary problem we're having with Yahoo! Mail'. If YPOPs! could identify and retry these a couple of times, and if necessary fail with POP3 '-ERR no such message', that would be useful.

These days I'm getting the error: Error while Fetching Mail.

Failed to read a valid greeting from POP server localhost

(I'm using localhost:5110 and localhost:5025 for recieveing and sending mail, respectively)

Hope this helps!

*proceeds to wait in anticipation*

I'm also seeing problems with mails that apparently have no body.

Client (KMail) reports: Could not read file The server said: "message 14 could not be downloaded".

The problem mail with headers looks like this on the web page:
Code: Select all

YPOPs! 0.9.6 is in the works...

Postby mtharan on March 31st, 2008, 6:44 pm

Dear Sir,

As suggested if we place in the address bar as "http://us.mg554.mail.yahoo.com/mc/showFolder?.rand=895267029" or "http://us.mg501.mail.yahoo.com/mc/showFolder?.rand=895267029" it says the page can not be displayed. So that does not stand as either correction or solution.

I'm using 0.9.5.1 with outlook 2007. For me, it doesn't fail every time I try to send an email out (with and without an attachment). As a test, I was able to send a 1.5Mb attachment email to my gmail account without any problems. This seems to work best with the 'Keep session alive set to 5 seconds'.

btw, the option to only download flagged files doesn't work, but that's not important at the moment.

I'll pm you my log file.

You ask for ypops.log to be sent, but I do not know where to find it. I run Windows Vista and doing a search do not find a file by that name.

Recently after updating my Incredimail I was having problems with getting some of my yahoo mail, but others were working fine. I thought it was because of Incredimail update or needed a new version of YPOPS, but neither of these were the problem I just needed to changed all my settings to the same as the ones that were working. Now I am able to send and receive mail just fine with YPOPS. Here are the settings I have

Servers:
SMTP: 127.0.0.1
POP3: 127.0.0.1

Outgoing mail server
My server requires authorization is checked and when you click on more settings it says:
This is checked: Log on using:
Username: (please note: username is without "@yahoo.com")
Password: *****
nothing else is checked.

Server Port Numbers:
Outgoing: (SMTP) 25
Incoming: (POP3) 110
nothing else is checked (leave the requires SSL connection unchecked)

I am using the old version of yahoo mail not the newest version.

I hope this helps, if not let me know what else you might need.

I just started using ypops. I'm using the new yahoo interface, and outlook 2002. My yahoo server is: http://us.mg2.mail.yahoo.com/

I have had no problems receiving email, but I also got the error message: 554 mailbox unrecognized. However, if I check the box "save email in yahoo's sent items folder", I am able to send email from my yahoo account via outlook 2002 and outlook express 6.

I'm running Outlook 2007 with Windows Vista and YPOPs has just about always run flawlessly. The only problem I encounter is that YPOPs will not start on start up, so all I have to do is restart it and it works just fine. This is definitely a praise to YPOP's!

Hi. I've been a user of YPOS! with Mozilla Thunderbird (2.0.0.12) on Windows (XP, SP2) for several months and it's great.

I've been having problems, though, forwarding e-mail with attachments. I can forward any message without an attachment just fine. But, when I forward one with an attachment, I receive a couple errors. And, the forwarded message contains nothing but the header info of the message I originally forwarded. I've attached a zip file of a Word doc with the cut&paste of the errors. I've also attached the log file.

I have the "forward messages inline" selected in my Thunderbird client.

Any suggestions?

Update: After restarting my system, I was no longer able to send through yahoo (554 mailbox unrecognized). However, I toggled the option to "save email in yahoo's sent folder" (toggle off > close ypops > open ypops > toggle on). Now, sending is working again. Then I toggled the option back off, and send is still working. I assume I'll probably have to do this every time I restart my system. Does anyone else get the same strange behavior?

Update #2: It turns out that my abillity to send has nothing to do with changing anything in ypops, IE, outlook or yahoo. Ypops fails the 1st 2 attempts, but the send is succesful on the 3rd attemp. Send continues to work for period of time (not sure what that is - maybe an hour?) or if you restart ypops, and then you get the same problem again. So that's been my temporary workaround to the send problem.

Is there any hope that Ypops will work on Windows Vista and Outlook 2007?

(If not yet support - I hav't tested this out & porbably don't pan too unless someone says otherwise)

Thanks for a great piece of code !
