We had some months ago started an initiative to move to VMime. This was due to some licensing issues that we had. As part of the next release, I will migrate to VMime as well.

So this is what you can expect in 0.9.7.1
1. Migration to VMime for MIME handling
2. Migration to the latest versions of OpenSSL, and curl
3. Bug Fixes (Duh! This is the biggest problem currently!). Aim is to get email downloads working in this release
4. Also, I might be reorganizing the code a lot. I still haven't decided if I'll do it as part of this release or the next one.

By when?

This is the big question. I'm hoping I can get this done in the next few days.

What will be there in 0.9.7.2
1. Get SMTP working. This is going to be a challenge, but let me aim for it.
2. Fixes for feedback from 0.9.7.1
3. More code reorganization

In the 0.9.7.x roadmap, we will also include a completely new feature:
1. Introduction of a Windows Service for YPOPs!

Thanks for the information.

Will I still be able to run the new 0.9.7.x versions on my Windows 98 machine?

I too have been dealing with this for a week now. I have tried several of the suggestions with no success. I have several yahoo accounts and just about half work and half don't in OE. I noticed something in common with both. The accounts that are working list these files in C:\Program Files\YPOPs: ("Name" is account name)

cookies-Name.txt
Name.@B@Bulk_0msgs.html
Name.checkerror.html
Name.FlagMessages_Inbox.html
Name.GetMessageRawHeader_Inbox.html
Name.GetMetaData.html
Name.GetMetaData_firsttime.html
Name.Inbox_0msgs.html
Name.ListMessages_@B@Bulk.html
Name.ListMessages_Inbox.html
Name.login2.html
Name.login.html
Name.markread.html
Name.messagebody.html
Name.messageheader.html
Name.MoveMessages_Inbox.html
Name.prelogin.html

The accounts that generate the error message and fail to download are missing the following files:

Name.FlagMessages_Inbox.html
Name.GetMessageRawHeader_Inbox.html
Name.markread.html
Name.messagebody.html
Name.messageheader.html
Name.MoveMessages_Inbox.html

FYI: I even tried to copy the missing files and edit the account information, but it did not work. I hope this helps someone smarter than me to diagnose the problem. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

If you can get ypops working again, you will be a demi-god amongst men. Good luck

Great news that you are sticking around... you guys have had great success and have stuck with it.

On a side note, request, I was wondering when you were thinking about releasing the source for the new version with VMIME.

Downloaded 0.9.5.1 from the link I just posted. Unable to send or receive with that version. Back to 0.9.5.1 with which I am at least able to send.

I can't figure how to do this. I see files like "name of account".login but if I remove these files yahoo does not open up. I forgot how to get to the ypops folder log and delete which files? Help I don't even understand what to try to do to work around this. Thank you Thank you please! :?

I have been getting the following error message for about 2 weeks now. I hope it's an easy fix also.

Unable to send or receive messages for the Yahoo (user) account. One or more messages couldn't be received. This problem may be caused by conflicting information from different e-mail programs you use to access this e-mail account. Close and reopen Windows Live Mail, and then send and receive messages again. If the pr

Personally I think YPops has always been an excellent idea. We're all using it because we don't want to pay $20 a year to Yahoo to get our email over POP3. But now we need to recognize that decoding and reverse-engineering Yahoo's webmail is much more complex than before and needs a lot more work from the developpers.

If others follow my proposal, I'm ready to send a donation to the team of developpers if we can get YPops working for receiving & sending emails. Because the alternative for me would be to pay $20 a year to Yahoo or change my email address, which in the end would cost me much more money in time spent managing the address move...

Will others follow?
