Mandrake 10 fix

Postby sgrayban on November 18th, 2004, 1:03 pm

For all you Mandrake users I have finally got yahoopop's .06 to compile and work !!!

It might work for other distro's but I am not sure. If it doesn't drop me a email at sgrayban AT borgnet.us with any ouput you get and any fixes you have and I'll add them to the version I made.

Give me a couple days and I'll have a complete tarball with a good configure to use.

Shame the coders here lack the common sense of writting one that actually works.

The tarball will include the mime++ that is required also.

Keep checking http://ww2.borgnet.us/downloads/ for it to be posted.

Just wanted the coders to know that this issue of crappy configuration and compiling for something as simple as this project sucks. You really need to learn linux.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, super-dude ! I tried to run YP on Mandrake 9.2 and 10.0 - a consistent failure. It's one of those little things keeping me from switching to linux full-time. Help desperately needed !
P.S. Please post detailed walk-through for all us morons too.

I got it to compile right but it doesn't delete the emails from yahoo's side.

There is a patch for the windows version but no one has come up with a patch for the linux side. That is what I am working on now.

Will keep everyone posted when I get it working correctly.

Scott

PS: When it comes available it will be on my rpm site http://rpm.borgnet.us

I need some help...

Postby loserpunk603 on December 21st, 2004, 1:39 pm

im very new to linux but im learning quickly. I've got the ./ycomplie to work untill it asks for the mimepp sources... the error message says to go to http://ypops.sourceforge.net/downloads to get them but they don't have them there. If i ever find those i dont think i'l be able to get much futher as i see a lot of people have been getting this:
make[1]: *** [ypops] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/tweaker/Downloads/yahoopops/src'
make: *** [all] Error 2
Yahoopops has not yet been built. Please build it

I went to http://ww2.borgnet.us/downloads/ but there is no yahoopops file that i saw. can someone help me first find the mimepp i need then maybe ffigure out how to get it to work after that.

Im running Mandrake 10.1 community incase anyone needs to know that to help

Thanks,
Kevin

I would need to see the lines before the ones you posted. You might want to grab my latest sources from here:

http://home.comcast.net/~dbeusee/

The latest here should compile on Linux out-of-the-box, as it has been compiled on Solaris and Linux RH-FC-2/3.

It's there. It is expected to be in ../lib/mimepp-1.3.3/examples/email/. Probably you don't have mimepp-1.1.3 under lib where YPOP's Makefile expects it by default unless you change that Makefile. If you are using my latest sources, pls read src/README.unix-linux.

If it's not there, you may have the wrong version of mimepp. Get it from the 0.4.5 YPOPs sources (ftp from SourceForge).
