No problem.

Was about time we linux people had a working program here and was happy to make it.

BTW you guys really need to make ao linux docs. Especially on the ypopsrc file and the options they have.

I do agree that our documentation needs to be improved.

I'll take that as an action item to get it done soon.

Hello..

I seem to have a problem with the Mandrake version of ypops. Its prolly a simple correction that I simply do not know how to fix, and I am a newbie on linux systems..

The error I'm getting is:

[ Mon May 9 20:03:17 2005 ] YPOPs! v0.7.3 started successfully

[ Mon May 9 20:03:17 2005 ] Unable to bind to SMTP port 25, Reason = Permission denied <----

What permissions do I need to have for my user settings to be able to bind to the ports needed to make this work for me? Any help would be appreciated. :)

I've tried setting the ports to 5058, 5059.. ypops does start up correctly, but Thunderbird or Kontact can't seem to work at all with the ports being set to 5058, 5059. This isnt much of an error, but it seems to just stop responding, in changing the ports:

Tanks, that did the trick, and I knew there would be something simple to it, and thought it had to be correct ports for it to work. Also, that thought did go through my mind about the "SECURE_CONNECTION" but I never went through to change it to 0 to begine with, since I thought it needed to be secure.

I guess it is only good to recieve emails now with ypops. I've tried sending email and had problems, both linux and windows. After reading what is here, going to the yahoo website to send email through the browser, I guess there isn't a script that can read gif files and type in letters to complete the sending process for yahoo email. Perhaps a script could bring up the browser at the right time needed for a user to type in the letters, click send, and work that way?

All in all, I do hate spam, seems to be a great preventive measure against spam, and I hope the spammers are just as annoyed as me and others from getting their spam.

I got excited a few months ago when I first saw this post, but the rpm wasn't there yet. I went back again, installed it and to my huge surprise I was able to download my Yahoo e-mails on Linux for the first time ever (actually I've used MrPostman in the meantime, but lately it's been "refusing connections").
I cannot thank you enough, rpm-dude !
