line feed formating problems using Outlook

Postby chemasi on September 7th, 2004, 4:22 am

my lines are getting chopped up when I send my messages using Outlook XP with yahoogroups.

Any ideas on what I need to do so that my line feeds are kept intact?

Thanks alot for any help!

Yes, I believe so. However, the explanation was a little confusing to me. Perhaps a knowledgable person can write a simpler explanation on how to solve the problem.

ltd, can you write response on how to set up yahoo mail, email client, and yahoopops to all work so that lines are not chopped up?

Yahoopops settings:

Email Client (Outlook XP) settings:

Yahoo mail settings:

Thank you!

Outlook settings:

(which settings need to be adjusted for sending and receiving mail to have intact lines ?)

Yahoo settings:

incoming mail line length:
Outgoing mail line length:

Please clarify what numbers need to be and which settings need to be set to address the chopped line issue. Thanks

Sign onto the Yahoo web interface
Under Mail OPtions
General Preferences
Set screen width to 80 for outgoing
Make sure your email client is less than this (like 79)

If I set them to be the same, will it work correctly (i.e. 80 and 80)

Try it and see, but I think it has to be less in the client than in Yahoo.
See Sticky faq where it says:

The line length of your client should be less than the line length in the Yahoo web client (see Mail Options in the Yahoo interface).

I did see where is say "should be less..."

What I think should be added to that statment is how much less. Such as 1 charactor less or 2 charactors, etc. And if it will work properly with equal line lengths, that should be stated so it is clearer and more accurate.

It might be helpful to have a snapshot of the applicable screens, indicating what is selected on yahoomail.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

The sticky post is not precise because nobody ever got to the bottom of this. A quick test should explain it. We'll be glad if you want to contribute to the project.
