It simply won't work today

Postby SQW on September 22nd, 2004, 7:17 pm

I've been having some issues with the beta. Generally speaking, it fixes the problem for a day or so and then won't download emails. So I uninstall Ypops, reboot, install and overwrite the exe. This was getting frustrating and now it won't even work at all.

Oh, And I should have mentioned that rolling back to 0.5 doesn't work either. Have I got a corrupt registry or something?

Try setting your Cookie Timeout = 0
This way it will get a new "session" every time you log in.
Also
Enable UIDL = 0, Ignore Exact Size = 0
I enable both UIDL and Ignore Exact Size (you have them turned off).

I use Outlook Express because I have spamfighter installed and it is just too good to give up.

Here are my settings (Daniel's v0.6ltD040915a beta):
Configuration:
Log Mode = Advanced
MD5 = 1, Secure Mode = 0
Use Proxy = 0, HTTP Proxy = -:80, HTTPS Proxy = -:80
Max Emails = 50, Leave as unread = 0
Emtpy Trash = 1, Empty Bulk = 1
Download Inbox = 1, Download BulkMail = 1
Email Category = All
Proxy Auth = 0, Username = -, Password = <HIDDEN>
Quiet Mode = 1, Autostart = 1, Always on Top = 0
Network IP = 127.0.0.1, POP3 Port = 110, SMTP Enable = 1, SMTP Port = 25
Save Sent Email = 0, Enable UIDL = 1, Ignore Exact Size = 1, Hide Tray Icon = 0
Apply Limit to Message List = 1, Cookie Timeout = 12000
User Agent = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0)

UPDATE!
I just downloaded .8 of Thunderbird and it works with the settings I listed above just fine.

Changing the cookie timeout didn't work first time so I also decided to uncheck the download from bulk mail folder and that seems to have done the trick. Any idea why that would happen?

I'm just happy it seems to working again. Thanks for your help.

Ypops does have problems with certain types of emails.
It used to have a problem we called the DOT bug.
It would hang an an email that had a dot on a line by itself.
Sometimes you have to go in and manually delete the problem email using the web interface. I thought the .6 beta fixed the dot bug though.

Glad it is working for you though.

I'm not sure if it is the DOT bug. I moved the items from the bulk mail to the inbox and they downloaded fine, so there may be some other bug?

Just thought I'd give you a headsup.
