Is Yahoo onto Yahoopops? It no longer works.

Postby dtv1949 on September 19th, 2004, 3:22 am

I too am having the same problems as other users. Up until today - 19 September - at least the emails were being downloaded. Now, no email is being downloaded and the bulk email folder is not deletd. The screen 'hangs' at that point.

I suspect Yahoo have plugged the gaps which allowed Yahoopops to work and now we must subscribe to their POP3 pay service.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted. :(

I have been using yahoo pops for quite a while and it always worked great.
But right now, with the old version my downloaded emails aren't deleted and with the new patch/update no emails are being downloaded at all.
What could be the problem?
The log file shows that aparently yahoo pops can log in and check the mail status, but then doesn't download anything and ends the connection.

Hello All

As of today at 6:00 PM EDST, YahooPOPs still works, but not on all my yahoo accounts?!

I can download some messages from some accounts, but not all accounts.

Plus I still have this erratic deletion counting happening, so I don't know what the issue is.

any help would be great.

Have fun and hang loose.

I found the solution on another forum. There is a patched file
that you can download, which restores the old mail deletion.

Here's the link to the patched version:
http://home.nyc.rr.com/bryg/yahoopops/YahooPops.exe

Here's the forum thread where I read about it (it should be a
single line URL):

That's the new patch I was talking about. It doesn't work for me.
Instead now yahoopos doesn't download any mail at all.

That's why I posted the log (after the patch was applied).
