Help please - Receiving: error (0x80004005) operation failed

Postby zoom on September 11th, 2004, 7:22 pm

outlook 2003/ ypops0.6

I keep getting the receiving error (0x80004005) the operation failed.

YPOPS status shows:
STAT
UIDL
LIST
then it fails.

Worked 3 times dowloading 30 msg each time from inbox.
then gave this error.
tried "download only unread msgs" Worked once (1) for 3 emails.
now gives the same error. no matter how many msgs or if they are read/unread.
I am not d/l from the bulk mail folder.

NOTE: if i now check "download only unread msgs" and there are no unread msgs. the status operation seems to complete ok. the error seems to occur after the LIST operation.

Any ideas? My Log file below (deleted).
Thank you!

Thank you!

Funny, i had read that thread, but just assumed it affected only the Bulk mail folder.
Now I see the long UIDL's for my messages. They are the last ones in the list, does this mean anything???

Just to recap the temporay solutions:

1. Don't download Bulk
2. Turn uidl support off (only for those who delete messages from the server immediately)
3. Manually delete the messages on yahoo web and then redownload.

Thanks for the help and the Ypops!!!!!!

The thread mentioned only bulk, because that seemed to be the folder that was causing problems. Your log is the first one I see with long UIDLs in Inbox and that's not good.

We need to fix that urgently, but it's hard to do without feedback. Try to view one of the three messages in your browser. Can you confirm that the URL contains the very id (after MsgId=)?

Yes the UIDL is in the address bar

Postby zoom on September 14th, 2004, 1:44 pm

Yes the 'longer' UIDL shows in the address bar (after MsgId=).
The message was date 7/20/04; maybe the long UIDL were used previously?

Also these long UIDL show up in all my folders not just the inbox.

Let me know what other info I can provide :)

-->My new temporary fix:
Download 5 msg at a time. Flag the ones that have long UIDLs and then continue to D/L. Yes this is long and combursome...

ANother prob/ques: YPOPS is deleting the msgs even though I have "keep msg as unread on server" and "dele msg" is not checked....

logs posted in other thread

Postby mohlsen on September 14th, 2004, 6:07 pm

I just posted some logs in the other thread that might help out. The problem seems to be in Outlook 2003 for me. The thread was titled:
YahooPOPs and Windows XP Service Pack 2

Hopefully, the build I have posted today at http://daniel.bryg.net/yahoopops.php will fix it. I had no way to test it myself, so let me know,

Well, it still does not work, but it is doing something different. For this test, I had no messages in my inbox, and 4 messages in my bulk mail. Outlook came back with and error saying the "connection to the server was interrupted" error code 0x800CCC0F. Here's the log:

Postby zoom on September 15th, 2004, 9:29 pm

no matter what i set the message limit to (XX), outlook 2003 always errors with: (0x800CCC0F) and YPOPs log ends with:

"[09/15/04 21:16:22] <name> Message limit (XX) for session reached"

Postby zoom on September 16th, 2004, 12:05 pm

yours justs exits right? it doesn't even get to the "msg limit" line...

here's a KB article about the error..it's seems like a generic connection closed error?
