Got it to work

Postby nmarko on November 17th, 2004, 9:57 pm

My Slack 9.0 system crashed and had to reload, this time with Slack 10. So now yahoopops 0.5 binary doesn't work anymore. Almost every time I would run it, it would terminate with a segmentation fault. So now I go to find the new 0.6 version and then I can't compile it since I don't have the mimepp package and the link seems to be broken.

I finally got it to compile by finding the mimepp code inside the yahoopops 0.4.5 package. Here is a hint. Don't use the silly ypcompile script, just edit the makefile. Also all the old packages are available from sourceforge but you have to use ftp to get them.

So now 0.6 is compiled, but I still get the segmentation fault. Frustrated, I try recompiling 0.5 with the same result! It must be something on Slack 10, but what. Anyway, I then read a posting about emptying the Bulk Mail folder on Yahoo. This did nothing, but I did notice that the y**rc file had DOWNLOAD_FROM_BULKFOLDER turned on! Turning this off stopped the segmentation fault on both 0.6 and 0.5.

But then I noticed that on 0.6, emails were not being deleted from the Yahoo inbox. In the log I see "Could not extract crumb from empty-trash link." This is the problem. So now it is back to 0.5 which has: "Crumb extracted (Mailbox = Inbox)" and deletes work OK.

This program has worked well for me, but I think it needs some work for Linux.

I posted the changes last month

Postby dbeusee on November 18th, 2004, 2:37 am

If you look at my postings in the Windows forum, you will find one where I actually show the changes that fix these problems you are having:

http://ypops.sourceforge.net/index.php? ... ight=#6312

After you apply these fixes, you wil be able to download bulk email and deletions will work.

If you make a linux executable, email me the distribution (zip or tar.gx file) and I'll post it on my web site, http://home.comcast.net/~dbeusee/ along with the Windows version that I have already posted which has these patches.

Give me a little while to do this and I will be able to put together a version of 0.6 with you changes for Linux, at least Slack 10.

Don't know if it will work on Winders but you can do fix that I hope.

Thanks for the changes,

NM
