First Time Use Problem

Hi......I just installed ypops ver 0.9.7.3 using Outlook Express 6 and it appeared to work fine but stopped after downloading about eight messages (which just happened to match the number of messages on the page as displayed when looking on the Yahoo webmail - (maybe coincidence). Anyway it appeared to hang after the eighth message so I shut everything down. Since then everytime I hook up to OE6 and use send/receive I get a messagebox with 'checking for new messages on 127.0.0.1......Receiving List of messages from server... and that's it. When I move the cursor over the message in the task area of this message box, it correctly tells me the total size of the emails to be downloaded (41Mb) spread over 82 emails. I have followed the instructions on setting up and am hoping you can throw some light on the problem.
