Configuring Help Needed for Outlook Express 6, Please

Postby CavalierLady on May 26th, 2005, 5:49 pm

Good Evening:

I'm afraid I need some help configuring Outlook Express for using YPOPS.
I've read through the help message at the beginning of this forum, yet I still have something not quite right.

At first, (and this changes as I'll explain in a minute), this is the error message that I was receiving in Outlook Express:

Unable to logon to the server using Secure Password Authentication. Account: 'YPOPS', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR Unknown AUTHORIZATION state command', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

Then, as I was typing in all the specifics listed below, I noticed that I did not have checked the two boxes under incoming and outgoing mail in the advanced settings, so I checked both those boxes.
Now, I am receiving the following error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'YPOPS', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

These are the settings that I have in Outlook Express so Far:
I haven't done anything with the YPOPS program yet:

Outlook Express 6 Settings:

General:
Server Name: YPOPS
Name: MKinsey
Email: [myusername]@earthlink
Include this account when receiving mail or syncronyzing: is checked

Server Settings:
Incoming Server: POP3
Incoming Mai POP3: 127.0.0.1
Outgoing Mail SMPT: 127.0.0.1
Account Name: [myusername]@yahoo.com

Remember my Password: is checked
Log on Using Secure Password Authentication: is checked
My Server Requires Authentication: is checked
Settings for My Server Requires Authentication:
Otgoing Mail Server
Email: [myusername]@yahoo.com
Password: [my yahoo password]
Log On Using Secure Password Authentication: is checked

Connection Settings:
Not checked as I have a DSL connection

Security Settings:
Nothing changed or added from default

Advanced Settings:
Outgoing Mail SMTP: 25
Incoming Mail POP: 995
Requires Secure Connection under both these boxes: is checked
Server Timeouts: 5 minutes
Break apart messages: is not checked
Leave a copy of message on server: is checked

I am running Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 on a Dell
Dimension 8400. with 3.2 gHz, P4 and 2 GB RAM. It has Norton
Antivirus and a firewall, tho I couldn't give you the details of the firewall.

A pc whiz I am not, and manage day to day tasks, but not any programming skills or using any of the DOS commands.

I'm sure it must be something fairly simple that I haven't checked or have
typed in wrong. I've checked a few of the messages here on this forum,
and haven't found the answer yet. A recent death in the family has my mind somewhat befuddled these days, so posting here was easier than more searching through the forum.

Can anyone help with the correct settings I should be using based on the
information I have given here, please?

Thanks for your time and thanks in advance for any responses.

It's common knowledge a lot of people have problems with mails, and I advise to use-opening .dbx, application is free as how as I remember,it restore mails, attached files, fix other mail files, program is compatible with Windows 2003, Windows 2000, Windows Me, Windows Vista, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows XP, Windows XP SP2 and any version of Outlook Express, installed on your PC,recovery represents the analysis of separate dbx files, because Outlook Express splits your mailbox into several files.
